About the Children's Trust
The South Carolina General Assembly created the Children's Trust in September of 1984. CTSC is not a state entity, but a separate, eleemosynary corporation granted tax exempt status under Section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The nine members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the Governor of the State of South Carolina and confirmed by the Senate.
Mission
Our vision is to prevent child abuse and neglect by promoting healthy, nurturing relationships between children and adults. The Children’s Trust of South Carolina is the state’s 501c (3) nonprofit organization leading statewide efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to strengthen families.
Vision
Our vision is for a world in which every child grows up in a safe, stable and loving family.
The future of South Carolina depends on the children of today
Children who are abused and neglected are at a higher rate for failing school, having behavioral problems, becoming juvenile offenders, and are more likely to continue the cycle of abuse with their own children. Child abuse and neglect can not be ignored. The Children's Trust seeks to address this problem through prevention by providing grants to establish or administer programs shown to prevent child abuse and neglect.
