Voices for South Carolina’s Children, formerly The Alliance for South Carolina’s Children*, is an independent, nonprofit child advocacy organization that works to improve the lives of children in the Palmetto State by providing information and resources to families, child advocates, lawmakers and concerned citizens on current children’s issues. Voices also leads the Partners – a coordination of PIRC a statewide network of Parent Information and Resource Centers, Voices provides parenting strategies which work to improve the status of children through public policy change. Through coordination of Parentwise, a statewide network of parent resource centers, Voices provides parenting strategies which strengthen the ability of families to respond to their own children’s needs. Voices is committed to preventive programs and early intervention, which improves the quality of life for children while saving tax dollars.

While voices monitors and protects children’s best interests on all children’s issues at the state, local, and federal levels, we champion universal (for all children in SC), high quality, voluntary (not mandatory to attend) preschool for all South Carolina’s Children. Voices has committed to making universal, high quality, voluntary preschool a priority agenda item that will be the focus for several years. While voices understands that many components such as good health and parenting are fundamental to the overall well being of children, we feel by concentrating on the advocacy of quality preschool education we can help endure that South Carolina’s children receive a solid foundation that will positively impact their lives and South Carolina’s economic future.

Voices was founded in 1991 under the name “Alliance for South Carolina’s Children.”
