We are committed to preventing child abuse before it occurs by engaging individuals, families and organizations around common prevention goals. Dollar for dollar, prevention is our best investment. Research-based programs and services designed to prevent child maltreatment serve society by building stronger, healthier children and by reducing the burdens on state services such as education, law enforcement, corrections, and mental health.

1. Advocacy Workshop
Learn about the S.C. Legislature, how to contact your legislator, a walk through the South Carolina Statehouse Web site, small group activities, and role play talking to your legislator.

2. Child Abuse and Neglect 101
Beginning with South Carolina state statistics, this workshop describes the types
and signs of abuse; discusses risk factors and prevention techniques.

3. Strengthening Families with Protective Factors
There are five research-based protective factors that prevent child abuse
and neglect. Learn what they are and how your can support them in your
daily routines.

4. Mr. Rogers' - What do you do with the mad that you feel?
This workshop for childcare providers explores anger, where it comes
from and how young children can gradually learn the self control
necessary to manage their own anger. Suggestions on how to intervene
when children act out or lose control.

5. Clifford's Big Ten Ideas
Everybody loves Clifford the Big Red Dog
with great reason. He lives by ten big ideas that make the world a better
place: Help Others. Have Respect, Work Together, Be Kind, Be Truthful, Believe in Yourself, Play Fair, Be a Good Friend, Share and Be
Responsible. Activities and video clips support this fun, hands on survey of topics that teach young learners how to be good citizens.
