Picasso Project
What is it?
The Picasso Project is a student art competition designed to recognize excellence in the artistic talents of South Carolina students, while raising funds to support the mission of The Children's Trust of South Carolina.
Why is it important?
The Picasso Project highlights the artistic talents of South Carolina students grades 6-12. It instills philanthropic values and community involvement in children (Kids Helping Kids), and raises funds from the sale of the donated student artwork at the gala’s silent auction. These funds help purchase Pack ‘n Play® products for needy families who complete the “Safe Sleeping” training (a Safe Kids initiative).
What’s New?
This year students and teachers will receive an award. State winners for both middle and high school will receive Visa® gift cards in the following amounts:
- 1st Place Winner for art & photography - $250 to student - $250 to teacher
- 2nd Place Winner for art & photography - $125 to student - $125 to teacher
- 3rd Place Winner for art & photography - $75 to student - $75 to teacher
Who participates?
The competition is open to all students, grade 6 through grade 12. Teachers, community leaders and parents can make art submission.
Teachers, parents, and after school art instructors can submit student artwork if they meet the grade level and artwork criteria. All participants must have a parent or guardian complete a Permission/Media form (PDF) and an Art Tag (PDF). Both must be attached to the back of each piece of art.
