Strengthening Families South Carolina

Strengthening Families National Network brings together states, territories and tribes interested in transforming systems that support children and families. The focus is on building five protective factors that experts know help prevent child abuse: parental resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support in times of need and children’s social and emotional development.
The network is a forum for sharing knowledge and tools. Strengthening Families offers an extensive electronic library of research and information about programs that work, as well as a database of training opportunities across the country. Members can participate in learning circles, where organizations with specific shared goals can come together to develop and implement action plans. Message boards and monthly teleconferences are available for those who can't travel to occasional face-to-face gatherings.
In South Carolina, The Children's Trust is Strengthening Families' lead agency. The trust joins organizations in 26 other states and the District of Columbia that are committed to creating safe environments for children by focusing on the protective factors that prevent abuse.
