Sue Williams has headed Children's Trust of South Carolina since it was created in 2007. Prior to that, she served for four years as executive director of Voices for South Carolina's Children, one of the four organizations that merged to form the Children's Trust. On a national level, Sue serves as the President of the Board of Directors for the National Alliance of Children’s Trust and Prevention Funds. Her passion for children's programs goes back farther, though. In 1993, she joined the founding group for EdVenture Children's Museum in Columbia, serving as board chair for six years before accepting the top job with Voices for South Carolina's Children. Sue has completed training at Harvard University's Governing for Nonprofit Excellence program and holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University. Sue is a mom to two daughters and a bonus mom to four.

 

 

 

 

 

Eric Bellamy

Eric Bellamy comes to Children’s Trust of South Carolina with several years of human services, youth development, and health education experience. With a passion for children and adolescent health services, he has worked on such initiatives as adolescent pregnancy prevention, Hurricane Katrina/Rita Relief projects, and infrastructure building for children’s mental health and substance abuse services. He will serve as the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood (MIEC) Home Visiting Coordinator to oversee all operations of the project’s initiatives. A native of Bridgeport, CT, Eric holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Promotion from Coastal Carolina University, GO CHANTICLEERS!  He enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends, playing competitive, travel softball, and “trying” to play golf.

Chantel Brown

Chantel Brown has held a variety of jobs during her career, ranging from substitute teacher in Columbia to executive legal assistant to two senior vice presidents at Nickelodeon in NYC. She's also worked as an administrative assistant at a number of law firms in South Carolina and New York. At Children's Trust of South Carolina, Chantel performs administrative and office support activities for multiple departments. Chantel has a one teenage son, and enjoys cooking, swimming and relaxing with him and her husband.

Lydia Freeman

Lydia Freeman is responsible for coordinating training activities and technical assistance throughout South Carolina for Children’s Trust on the prevention of child abuse, neglect and unintentional injuries. She came to the Children's Trust of South Carolina after serving as Ready to Learn coordinator for ETV Network of South Carolina. She holds a bachelor of arts in interdisciplinary studies in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina and is currently working on her MS in Instructional Technology & Design. Lydia enjoys gardening, reading and creating things.

A driven development and public relations professional, Felicia Easterlin has a proven track record in non-profit fundraising. Coming to Children's Trust after five years as the director of development and public relations for Cardinal Newman School in the Midlands, she is responsible for planning and securing a comprehensive annual fund program and managing all areas of donor relations. Felicia's community involvement includes the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Public Relations Society of America. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Felicia earned a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in theatre, speech and dance.  A mom of two, a son and a daughter, Felicia has a personal commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of South Carolina's children.

Joan Fail Hoffman

Joan Hoffman came to Children's Trust of South Carolina in 2008 after spending four years as director of grant making and programs at the Central Carolina Community Foundation. Prior to that, she was executive director of Communities In School of the Midlands for eight years, increasing fivefold the number of children served during her tenure. Joan holds a master's in business administration-management from the University of South Carolina, as well as a bachelor's degrees in journalism and theatre and speech from USC. Joan spends time away from work with her husband, son and daughter, and is involved in community activities with United Way of the Midlands, St. Peter's Catholic School and the Junior League of Columbia.

Nanette Huneau

Nanette Huneau began working with children in her own in-home daycare while her four children were small.  She progressed to working in elementary special education as a teacher’s assistant then as a middle school secretary. Her project management experience in the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources led her to Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina as a volunteer event planner for their fundraiser, Art A Must and a full time position.  She is now the special projects director for Children’s Trust of South Carolina and is responsible for its fundraiser, The Picasso Project. Nanette is happily married, the mother of four married children and Nana to three granddaughters and one grandson.


David M. Laird

David Laird is the policy advisor on data, demographics and economic issues relating to children and families. He works with policy makers, community groups and organizations to expand Children’s Trust’s prevention network and grassroots advocates. David came to Children's Trust of South Carolina from Voices for America's Children, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group where he served as director of government affairs and policy. David holds a master's in social work from the University of Alabama and a bachelor's in social work from the University of Mississippi.


 

 

 

 

 

Ann Maletic

Ann Maletic brings to Children's Trust of South Carolina a wealth of experience in evaluating and administering programs, as well as in conducting studies and research that analyze those programs strengths. She's worked in the past for state agencies including the Department of Mental Health and the Department of Health and Human Services. She holds bachelor's degrees in urban and regional planning and sociology from Miami (Ohio) University, a master's from the University of South Carolina in geography, quantitative, quality of life and Census research from the University of South Carolina and has completed coursework for a doctorate in education research and psychology at USC. Ann and her husband are the official parents of one and unofficial parents of three adult children.

Uvette Pope-Rogers, CPA

Uvette Pope-Rogers comes to Children's Trust of South Carolina after having worked as the Controller and Assistant Controller at the South Carolina Education Lottery Commission more than seven years.  After serving as an officer in the military, she then worked as an auditor at Rogers & Laban. Uvette is a graduate of Francis Marion University where she received her US Army Commission.  Uvette and her husband are the parents of three children. She is actively involved in community activities with Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, South Carolina Council of African American Studies, and is a member of First Nazareth Baptist Church.

For more than 10 years, Heidi Vaughn has worked extensively with families, with a strong focus on children and adolescents. Her previous employment includes working at Charleston County School District, Richland County Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Department of Juvenile Justice. As state coordinator of Safe Kids South Carolina for Children’s Trust of South Carolina she works to prevent unintentional injuries in children and supports a network of 13 local coalitions in the state. Heidi holds a master’s in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in public relations, both from the University of South Carolina.

As finance manager for Children’s Trust of South Carolina, Deb Werdunn is responsible for grant and contract management, procurement and financial procedures. She's a graduate of South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD. The mother of two, Deb enjoys tennis, running and working out at the gym.

Bett Farrell Williams

As Director of Communications, Bett Farrell Williams guides Children’s Trust in their communication strategy and public relations work. She comes to Children’s Trust with 20 years of experience in advertising and marketing, fundraising, operations and event management. She teaches Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church (Columbia) and is an active member of the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands. Bett is a graduate of Leadership Columbia and has served as the President of the Junior League of Columbia where she continues as an active member. Bett is a graduate of Wake Forest University with majors in English and politics. She and her husband enjoy cooking, escaping to beach and mountains and keeping pace with their active daughter and son.

Todd enjoys transforming ideas into exciting and intriguing designs. His experience in design and communication, will help grow and strengthen the vision of Children's Trust. He is a Graphic Design graduate of South Carolina and also holds an Associates Degree in Design from Greenville Technical College. He loves hearing about new gadgets and apps that make his job more fun and exciting. When he's not designing, he loves traveling, cooking, photography and a nice cup of coffee with his wonderful wife in their adventures.

Birley H. Wright

Birley Wright helps us maintain and build strong relationships with partner organizations doing great work to keep South Carolina’s children safe. Birley has been active in child advocacy for 20 years.  First exposed to Prevent Child Abuse  as a Kappa Delta at Wofford College, she then moved to be a parent education coordinator with Prevent Child Abuse South Carolina. Birley also has many years of experience as a classroom educator and grants project manager. She is passionate about early childhood development and keeping children safe. She and her husband are busy raising two very active daughters.  In their spare time they enjoy traveling, bike riding and making the most of the quality time with family.
